5 July 2017 (by admin)

We have just received notification that the Government have decided not to stop free school meals for infant aged children

I am sure you are aware that the government had stated in their manifesto that they would be stopping Universal Free School Meals. This morning we have received the following information:- Today we have had confirmation from the Government that Universal Infant Free School Meals is here to stay. Speaking in the House of Commons, Education Minister Nick Gibb said: “We have listened very carefully to the views of the sector on the proposal to remove infant free school meals and we have decided it is right to retain the existing provision”. He went on to say “universal infant free school meals ensure children receive a nutritious meal during the day. It saves hardworking families hundreds of pounds a year and it boosts educational achievement, especially among children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds”. We are delighted with the news as universal free school meals has had a very positive impact on the children in our school.
