Welcome back to the Summer Term!!!!!!
This half term our book focus is The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch" -where poor Mr.Grindling keeps getting his lunch stolen by the pesky seagulls. In DT we are tasting shop bought pasta salads, then designing our own for Mr.Grindling before making, testing and evaluating our pasta dishes.
Maths is multiplication and division - counting equal groups. We have been counting in 2's and 10's and also in 5's which we are finding quite tricky. Please have a practise at home if you can.
In Year 1 all children do the national phonic screening which involves children reading real words and alien words - all words are phonically decodable. Alien words may look like this - vol quass sloom tabe jair joil.
Phonics this half term is revision so next week the focus is - ie ( tie pie cried dried fried) i-e (time like ripe inside prize slide), o ( post so go both open over) o-e ( home woke explode note stone those) . Alien words - nd blard zome meast foid vaw and the quick review - blossoms charming second reptiles fried over open explode tie.
Science we will be naming parts of a tree, History is jobs for children in Victoria times and computing we will be continuing word processing.
On a sad note - Miss.Mercer will be leaving us on Tuesday 21st April. We have loved having her in Starfish and she has worked very hard. We all wish her well in her teaching career and know she will be an asset to the profession.
Thank you for your continued support.
