Badgers Class

20 March 2026 (by schoollogin)

Another busy week in Badgers Class!

Thank you to everyone for attending Parent Teacher Consultation meetings. It was great to share the progress each individual child has made. Please refer to the Early Learning Goal document we handed out- it would be great for you to work on specific areas with your child at home. If there is anything on there you are unsure of, please speak to us.

The children have enjoyed the sunshine this week! This week, we have been discussing the transition into Spring. The children have learned what Spring is, and the changes that happen now we are entering a new season. On Wednesday, we walked around the playground looking for signs of Spring. The children worked in pairs with a clipboard ticking things off as we spotted them including flowers, green leaves, birds, a nest, flower buds and insects. To end the week, we had a special visit from Mrs Chapman’s lamb! The children behaved brilliantly and enjoyed observing the lamb. Before the lamb went home, each child had the opportunity to stroke her.

In Maths, we have been working hard on doubles up to 5, and odd and even numbers up to 10. It is great to see the children are becoming more fluent with their automatic recall of doubles/odd and evens. Next week, we will be assessing the children on what we have covered so far- specifically more than/less than, composition of numbers, odd and even numbers and doubles.

In Phonics, we have worked this week on longer words, words ending in -ing, and compound words (2 separate words formed together to create a new word. For example farmyard, popcorn, carpark). Next week, we will be assessing the children individually.

Next week is our final week before we break up for Easter. We will be taking part in many Easter celebrations including learning the Easter Story, trying hot cross buns, and making Easter cards.
Just to remind you, we will be attending the whole school Easter worship at All Saint’s Church on Friday morning.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman
