weekly news
Well, what a week since the last post. We had some great visitors talking to us about different careers, we had World Book Day - thank you to everyone who came in and yes it is a hot classroom! Well done on dressing up on Friday you all looked fabulous. On Monday we did a workshop with Lemko a Buddhist nun and now we are in National Science week. We have been swapping around the classrooms and carrying out some investigations - making rainbows, separating liquids, magnetic forces and testing aeroplanes. The focus for Science Week this year is curiosity and asking questions - see if you can carry out this simple investigation at home....... A plain glass filled with water, draw an arrow on a piece of paper and hold it behind the glass - what happens??? So far the suggestions to Mrs.Jackson have been that i used magic water, sprinkled fairy dust or that i was cheating.
Maths next week is Mass & Volume and we will be using the vocabulary of capacity, greater, lighter, mass , volume.
Phonics -
/c/ ch , /sh/ ch - chemist echo stomach chef parachute Christmas
/z/ ze - freeze breeze sneeze squeeze snooze bronze
Then we will be reading longer words - celebrate astronaut playful pudding octopus picture adventure creature feature, amazing successful musical triumphant sweeping shrieking snowy whispering gigantic
On Friday morning we are going to the Methodist church to do some Easter crafts and also please look in book bags on Friday for parents evening slips - they will be put there personally by Mrs. Clements. I look forward to seeing you then.
Thank you.
Starfish team.
