We have all really enjoyed Careers Week at school. We have had many visitors coming into school to tell us all about their jobs, including a paramedic, an education worker from Network Rail, a journalist, a baker and a builder. The children all look wonderful in their costumes today and they have enjoyed telling everyone about the jobs they would like to do when they are a grown up.

We had a fantastic time yesterday, celebrating World Book Day. The children learnt that Reading is Everywhere! Thank you to everyone who came into school yesterday afternoon to play games with the children. I hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did.

We have also managed to fit in daily phonics and maths along with all the other exciting events this week. In phonics the children are using the phonemes and graphemes they already know to read and spell increasingly longer words. Some of the words have included: helmet, timid, buzzer and fantastic. The children have been taught to chunk these longer words up into smaller parts to read and spell them.

In maths this week, we have focussed on the numbers nine and ten. The children have found different representations of 9 and 10 and have begun to investigate pairs of numbers which make both of these totals.

Next week is Science Week, so more special events and exciting experiments to come.

Please don't forget the disco on Monday after school. Send your child's disco clothes to school in a named carrier bag and we will get them changed at the end of the day before the disco. You can collect your child at 4.30pm from the main entrance.

Have a lovely weekend with your family.

Kind regards

Mrs Dean and the Hedgehog Team
