Badgers Class30 January 2026 (by schoollogin) |
Thank you to all the adults who attended our Stay and Play session. The children love to have their grown ups in school!
This week, our book of the week has been Tiddler by Julia Donaldson. The children have enjoyed looking at all the different sea creatures in the book, successfully naming all of them!
In Phonics, we have finished teaching all of our graphemes and tricky words for the Spring term. This week, our new graphemes have been air (chair, hair) and er (bigger, ladder). Our new tricky words are: are, sure, pure.
In Maths, we are continuing to explore numbers 6, 7, and 8. We have focused this week on the composition of each of these numbers. Which two numbers add together to make 6? 7? 8? We have explored this by using 10 frames, throwing bean bags into a hoop (how many landed in the hoop, how many landed out the hoop, how many altogether), and looking at domino pieces.
In PE, we continue to work on our ball skills. This week, we have worked in partners to roll a small ball to each other, using control to ensure it does not roll too far! We have worked on stopping the ball using our hands.
Over the next two weeks, we will take part in our whole school environmentalism project. In EYFS, our focus is ‘keep the sea plastic free’. We will explore what we can do to protect sea life, linking to our current topic of under the sea. We will do this by reading fiction and non- fiction texts, creating art work linked to key texts, and through lots of hands on whole class activities.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman
