Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

This week we have been busy practising various joining techniques ready for when we make a tower for Rapunzel. We had a fabulous and productive afternoon learning how to make a cone, how to split the bottom of a tube in order to fix it to a base - next week we will plan our tower and incorporate our joining knowledge. 

In maths we have continued our fact family work, it is quite tricky remembering all the various ways ( eg 3+5=8, 5+3=8, 8=5+3, 8=3+5, 8-3=5,8-5=3, 5=8-3, 3=8-5) 

Phonics next week will be covering split diagraphs (if you are over a certain age you might remember it as magic e!) . So we will learn (oa) o-e home,woke, note, (ai) a-e made, same, game, (igh) i-e time, like, ripe, (yoo) u-e cute, tube, rule. Tricky words will be could, would, should. 

On Thursday 20th we will be walking the route of the Great Flood of Driffield so please make sure your child has a waterproof coat.
