Autumn Term 2 - Welcome Back!
Welcome back after the half term holiday.
This half term, the children will be learning all about nursery rhymes and well known tales. They have begun this week by looking at words which rhyme. The children have continued rhyming strings and found a partner with a picture which rhymes with their picture. Our rhyme of the week has been Humpty Dumpty.
In our phonics the children have learnt the digraphs ff, ll, ss and the phoneme j. The children are continuing to practise blending these sounds together with others they already know. We have learnt some new tricky words this week, including: put, pull, full and as. I can really tell that some of you have been practising letter formation at home with the resources we gave you. Thank you for your support, this really makes a difference.
In maths this week we have been focusing on the numbers 4 and 5. The children have been recognising groups of 4 or 5 objects and they have been finding one more than any number to 5.
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week and on Thursday the children will be taking part in a kindness workshop. Next Friday (14th November) is Children in Need and the children are invited to come to school in non-uniform (yellow or spots) in return for a donation to this charity.
We also have a Fairy Tale dress up day on Friday 21st November and another Stay and Play session, this time on Tuesday 25th November. Look out for more details on these two events coming soon.
As always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Kind regards
Mrs Dean & the Hedgehog Team
