Week 1! We hope you had a lovely week off. It is great to have the children back, they have settled back in really well.
This half term, our theme is Nursery Rhymes and well known tales. We have started off this week by looking at a range of rhymes including Humpty Dumpty, Incy Wincy Spider and Hickory Dickory Dock. We have worked together to identify the rhyming words. As well as this, we completed an activity in which each child had a different picture card, they had to find their rhyming partner! Could dog find the log? Could the mouse find the house?
In Phonics this week, we have learned ll (bell), ss (mess, dress), ff (puff, fluff) and j. The children are making good progress with their phonics and are doing great with their independent blending.
In Maths, we are having a close look at numbers 1-5. We continue to work on our subitising skills (being able to recognise an amount without the need to count). Also, we have explored different representations of numbers to 5, and we have found 1 more and 1 less than numbers to 5.
Next Monday (10th) we have a special visit from our local PCSO. The children will have the opportunity to learn about the job role of a PCSO, with the chance to ask questions.
Next Friday (14th) is Children in Need day. Please bring your child to school in something yellow or spotty with a donation of £1. The children will take part in some Pudsey themed activities throughout the day!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us on the gate.
