Badgers Class

17 October 2025 (by schoollogin)

Another busy week!

Thank you to all of the parents for attending the parent consultation meetings. We're very happy that all the children have settled in beautifully and are making great progress.

This week, we have looked at numbers 1,2,3. We explored different representations of each number, represented each number on a five frame using counters, and used five frames to show one more and one less.

In Phonics, we have revised all the sounds we have learned so far and continued to increase our blending skills.

In PSHE, the children formed different facial expressions using play dough. A big happy smile, a sad face and a shocked face!

This week, we have had a look at different body parts and how people change over time. We ordered pictures of a baby, toddler, child and adult and spoke about the different things we can do as we grow older. The children had some brilliant answers and enjoyed comparing the different stages to different family members.

Today was school photo day! The children were brilliant for the photographer and we have some very lovely pictures of them all! Please find the photo and further information in your child's bookbag.

Next week is our last week at school before we break up for October half term. On Thursday (23rd) is our first Stay and Play session. The focus of our session is 'Funky Fingers'- developing our fine motor skills through a range of different activities, as well as playing in all of our lovely areas both inside and out. Please come along at 2pm, and play with your child in our new outdoor area! Just before 2pm, enter via the main entrance where you will be asked to sign in. Mrs Chapman/ Miss Corrigan will come and take you to the classroom for a carpet session of dough disco, then it will be time to go to busy time.

From Monday, the drop off and collection will return to normal. Please come to the new playground at the start and end of each day.

If you have a child, or you know somebody who has a child, who is due to start school in September 2026, we are hosting an open morning tomorrow (Saturday 18th) 10-12. You do not need to pre book a slot- just turn up! We are also hosting an opening evening next Tuesday 21st 4-6pm.

Just a reminder- the children break up on Thursday for a week. School will not be open on Friday 24th October.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman
