Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

This week, our theme has been looking at our likes and dislikes- linked to our book of the week 'I like bees, I don't like honey' by Sam Bishop. The children enjoyed sharing their ideas and listening to their friends interests. 

In PSHE (Heartsmart), the children made their own Boris the robot using 2D shapes! The children worked out which shape we would need for each body part. 

In Music, the children have been singing 'I've got a grumpy face!'. It is a song which explores different emotions and facial expression, the children are thoroughly enjoying it. 

In Phonics, we have completed all the sounds on the Autumn 1 handout. We finished them off this week with h,b,f,l. The children are making good progress with their blending, we really do appreciate the reading you do with your child at home. Next week, the children will be assessed on their sounds, their oral blending skills, and their independent reading of CVC words. 

In Maths, we have explored repeating patterns. We have identified repeating patterns, and the children have been able to complete the pattern, following the pattern rule. This is something you can do at home with your child using household items/ natural objects. For example: stick, stone, stick, stone.... what comes next?
