Harvest Festival

Yesterday, we enjoyed our Harvest Experience and Harvest Festival in the church. The children learnt all about the harvest of the earth, garden, grain, flock and sea. They learnt that Christians thank God for all these things at harvest time by gathering together for a celebration called Harvest Festival. We also learnt that harvest festival is a time to think of others. Thank you so much for all your kind donations of food and toiletries for the Driffield Food bank, we were delighted by the amount of donations.

This week, we have continued with our daily phonics lessons. Our focus sounds this week have been, 'g', 'o', 'c' and 'k'. We have continued to practise blending these sounds together with the other sounds the children already know to hear some words. For example: kid, got, cat, dog, kit, dig etc. Thank you to those you who attended the Phonics, Reading & Maths workshop on Monday afternoon. If you were unable to attend, the presentation is on the school website and the handouts went home in your child's bookbag on Wednesday.

In maths this week, we have continue to practise sorting objects by colour, shape and other special characteristics. We have also been comparing quantities using the language, more, less and fewer.

Next week we will be talking a lot about our families and who is in our family. Please send in a picture of your child and their family to support this work. We want to display these photos in classroom, so please don't send any precious originals.

Your child has brought home a special autumn paper bag today. Please go for an autumn, welly walk and collect as many autumn objects as you can, variety rather than quantity is what we are looking for please! Place the items in your child's autumn bag and return them to school next week.

As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a lovely weekend/

Kind regards

Mrs Dean & the Hedgehog Team
