What a hot week!
Wow! What a hot week!
It has also been a busy one. We have certainly packed a lot to the hottest week of the year. We have continued with the normal daily phonics, maths and reading sessions, as well as much more.
On Tuesday we went to Elmswell Farm. Farmer John picked us up in the tractor and trailer and off we went. We saw the highland cows as soon as we arrived, as they were resting in the field next to the school room. The children were delighted to see some calves playing around in the sunshine. Farmer John then led us around the farm on a walk to see the machinery sheds, the woodland path and many of the crops he grows on the farm. Farmer John explained that the crops hadn't grown as well this year due to the warm, dry spring time. He showed us his maize crop which was about a metre tall, he explained that this would normally be about 4 metres tall at this time of year. After a long walk, we found some shade and enjoyed our picnic lunch. After lunch the children explored the garden area and they tried to find plants and natural objects to match the different shades of green on their strip of card.
This afternoon, after a wonderful week, we treated the children to an ice lolly. We joined the whole school under the shade of the trees on the Key Stage One playground for a lovely cooling treat.
Next week looks like another busy and action packed one. Your child will bring home their school report on Thursday. Inside the report you will find details of your child's Foundation Stage Profile. This indicates whether they have reached the expected level of development in the 17 Early Learning Goals. If you wish to discuss anything included in your child's report, please don't hesitate to ask.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the weather tomorrow.
Kind regards
Mrs Dean & Miss Wain
