Week 2 news!
This week we have explored bicycles. Our story this week- Mrs Armitage on Wheels- looked at the main character being inventive add adapting her bike to make it better. Following on from this, we explored bikes from the past and present and how they have improved over time. We explored the first bike the hobby horse, the penny farthing, and the safety bike- similar to the ones we use today. The children were fascinated by the penny farthing!
In Phonics, we are continuing to read new words with adjacent consonants. It would be great for the children to practise the following sentences independently at home:
I see seven chicks in a nest.
I cannot swim in the pond with frogs.
I can drink lots of milk.
In Maths, the children have revisited odd and even numbers and double facts. The children did a brilliant job showing great understanding.
In PSHE, we had a think about how we show perseverance each day. The children's job was to see if they could balance their tennis ball on the racket, and remember- don't give up if we can't do it the first time!
Next week, our focus will be trains. We will learn all about trains in the past and compare them to trains in the present. Our story will be 'The Train Ride' by June Crebbin.
Just to remind you- Next week Badgers Class will be visiting Elmswell Farm on Thursday (19th). The children do not need to wear their uniform, however we do ask for the children to be dressed appropriately, we will be getting muddy!
Have a great weekend,
Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman.
