The end of week 2!
This week, we have had a look at a bean seed and discussed how it will grow. We used a plastic food bag to create a mini greenhouse, which accelerates the growing process. We soaked cotton pads and put them in the bag with a bean seed, and put our greenhouses in the window to reach the sunlight. The combination of warm sunlight and moisture from the cotton pads will help the bean seed to grow faster. The children worked in small teams and each had roles to create their greenhouses.

Our story this week has been 'Oliver's Vegetables' by Vivian French. We discussed the different vegetables in the story and watched a clip on how carrots get from the field to our fork! The children were amazed at how quickly the process happens.

In phonics, we have continued to learn new words including adjacent consonants. Our new tricky words this week are: some, come, love, do.
Here are some words you could practise writing at home: shift, milk, frog, smell

In Maths, we have looked at numbers 21-30 and how we can make these numbers using both numicon and ten frames. First we build 20, then how many more do we need to make our number?

This week in RE we have introduced Buddhism to the children. We have looked at statues of the Buddha and spoke about why Buddha is special to Buddhists. We read the story of the Buddha, and next week we will have a try at some meditation! Very calm and peaceful.

Thank you to everyone for bringing sun cream, sun hats and water bottles, it's been a warm one this week! The children have learned how to become a 'sun safe superstar' by making sure they have sun cream on, wear a sunhat to protect their head, and sunglasses to protect their eyes!

Have a great bank holiday weekend, and we will see you back Tuesday morning.
