As usual, it is time for me to share the highlights from this week in The Hive with you all. We have enjoyed a lovely ‘Fishy Friday’ lunch today which is always a firm favourite. We have been focusing on the colour black as our colour of the week, as you may know from the colour some of the children come home ‘wearing’! The children have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in various activities to explore this colour and we created some lovely art using mini baskets to print with, which sparked everyone's creativity.

This week the children have had a fantastic time outside, building structures with foam bricks, allowing them to extend their physical skills. In our water tray, we explored colours further, which has been a nice sensory-rich experience. While outside the children have really enjoyed using the spray bottles to squirt water, adding an extra element of fun to our play while also developing their fine motor skills.

The small world castle and horse and carriage has been particularly popular, encouraging the children's imagination. This week we have had the spinning chair out, which many of the children found exhilarating! As part of our social skills development, we are also practicing 'my turn, your turn', helping them learn about sharing and cooperation.

This week, in celebration of Children’s World Mental Health Week and National Storytelling Week, we have implemented some mood booster activities. We encourage you to visit the BBC website at BBC Mood Boosters, where you can find short videos that you may find helpful to use at home.

Looking ahead, next week we will be focusing on the colour pink. We are excited to see how the children explore this new colour through our planned activities. We will continue with the nursery rhyme 'Pat a Cake, Pat a Cake,' into next week – as usual, this can be accessed on the Little Wandle website: https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/#tabnametabNurseryRhymesVideos.

If you have any wooden spoons, pans, mixing bowls or jugs you no longer need we would love for them to be donated to our outdoor mud kitchen, thank you.

There’s still time to come to donate to our Swap Shop – if you have any donations of clothes, toys or books please send them in to school next week. This is to support our Year Two children who will be holding a ‘Reuse and Recycle’ Swap Shop on Thursday 6th February at 3pm- ALL WELCOME! Come along and pick up some ‘new stuff’ for free!

Thank you to the parents who have completed the Motivators Checklist - if you have not yet completed it please do so so that we can keep an up to date record of your child's motivators.

Thank you for your continued support in making our classroom a wonderful place for learning and play.
