Sun-dried tomato bread

Today's Cooking Crew speciality was sundried tomato soda bread. The children used their weighing skills to accurately measure dry ingredients, which included seed and grain flour. We discussed how this would add texture to the bread. They were also introduced to buttermilk which they needed to make the dough and they had to work in millilitres to ensure they were adding the correct amount of liquid. The children used the rubbing-in method to combine the butter and flour and were very careful to keep the ingredients just in their fingertips.  They needed to chop sundried tomatoes to add flavour and sprinkle in thyme too. They were surprised about how much oil the sundried tomatoes needed to preserve them. We hope they all enjoyed trying their new tasty snack.
