Extra Curricular Activities and Clubs

Let's Pretend- Drama Club.

Our drama club is running again this term after school. The children have been very creative, working together to create jungle animals to retell the story 'Rumble in the Jungle'

Year Two children thoroughly enjoyed scooter training sessions in which they received classroom instruction on how to scoot safely, avoiding pedestrians and then tried out their skills around obstacle courses outside.

The children have enjoyed the following extra curricular and after school club sessions:

Crafty kids: children made a whole range of art and craft work with the purpose of allowing their creative juices to flow!

GOAL sports: children practise and develop their football skills.

Choir: Mrs Thackray rehearsed a number of Christmas songs with the choir and they were extremely pleased to perform these at Glenfield Care Home and Tescos as well as at our very own Christmas performance.

Let's Pretend: The children really enjoyed our new drama club.

Events.

Year Two children thoroughly enjoyed scooter training sessions in which they received classroom instruction on how to scoot safely, avoiding pedestrians and then tried out their skills around obstacle courses outside.

The children worked well in teams at Driffield Junior School in a multiskills morning. They participated in sessions about ball skills, boxing and golf! They mixed well with children from Northfield Infant School and tried hard in their tasks.

Key Stage One  children sang their hearts out at Bridlington Spa for Little Big Sing. In music sessions they rehearsed the songs and had the opportunity to perform in a very large group as well as listen to and join in with a live band. An inspiring event!

The children (and staff!) were extremely excited to watch the Tour De Yorkshire as it passed through Driffield. This inspired a number of year group events on wheels! Look at the winners in the scooter race!

World Book day 2018

For World Book Day we studied Victorian Authors as we had been learning about the Victorian era.

Foundation Stage read Cecily Parsley's Nursery rhymes by Beatrix Potter, Year One read a number of Beatrix Potter Stories but focused on Peter Rabbit and Year Two read the Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. We dressed as characters from these books on the day.

On World Book Day, we enjoyed lots of reading-based activities including paired and shared reading, a book swap and a Big Book Quiz. We were excited when representatives from WH Smith arrived to allow us to spend our World Book Day tokens!

Bedtime Stories

As part of our World Book day celebrations we invited the children back to school at 6pm in the evening, wearing their pyjamas doe hot chocolate and bedtime stories!

We promoted reading for pleasure in a presentation to the parents; thank you to all those who attended!

World Book Day 2017

Starfish created some faces out of clay and things they found around Elmswell Farm.
