Remembrance Day and Diwali
Year One have had a great first week back. We have been exploring the Hindu celebration Diwali, the Festival of Light. The children have learnt all about Rama and Sita, made Rangoli patterns using shapes and chalk/ rice, Diva Lamps from clay and had a dance session which they really enjoyed.
Throughout the week we also spoke about why people might be wearing poppies and about Remembrance Day. On Friday afternoon we had the opportunity to go to church to see the different displays made by the local community. It was lovely to see all of the effort that had gone into making each poppy.
