At the end of last week, the Year Two classes received a very important letter from eminent scientist 'Tess Tubular' of the National Conservation society. She informed us that footprints have been discovered of two animals that would not normally be found together.
It was our task to work out which animals these could be and research their natural habitats, using the atlases to help us. After a number of comparisons of the footprints with our own feet and finding out about the dimensions, we decided that they were the paw prints of a lion and a polar bear. We are now busy researching the weather and landscape of the Arctic and discovering how polar bears are adapted to live there. Look at the photos of us covering our hands in 'blubber' (lard!) to make them as warm as a polar bear before plunging them into ice water!
