We have been giving some thought to the practice of sending Christmas Cards in school and the impact on the environment.
We have been approached by parents who have asked us to consider encouraging children not to send individual cards to everyone in their class but instead send one card to their class that can be displayed for all to see.
We think this is a lovely idea as it still reflects the tradition of sending good wishes at Christmas without the pressure of having to buy and 'write' lots of cards, many of which, sadly never find their way out of children's book bags! It is also a way of reducing the excessive amount of waste that Christmas always creates. In addition, the children may wish to think about donating the money they would have spent on cards to a charity.
We do appreciate that for some of you this thought may be a bit late as we are aware that some children have already written their cards. If that is the case then of course they may distribute them in school but if not you may like to consider our suggestion.
Either way is fine this year
