Tree Planting Ceremony18 July 2019 (by admin) |
12 children from Y1 and 2 attended memorial tree planting.
I was delighted to take 12 of our children to Church today to take part in the Driffield War Memorial Dedication and tree planting service.
On Friday 18th July 1919 children of Driffield planted two English Yew trees one at our school, as a symbol of peace following the end of the First World War. Today we were invited to plant a yew tree in the Church grounds to commemorate 100 years since the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
The children were an absolute credit as they participated in the service recognising with dignity and silence the names of those who gave their lives in both World Wars.
Please take a look at our tree as you pass. A plaque will be erected soon
We plan to plant a tree at school tomorrow so that everyone can be involved
