Awards and Achievements
Children's Achievements both academically and socially are celebrated in school in a variety of ways.
School Values Award: A child from each class is nominated each week (and recorded in our Golden Star Book) for demonstrating our School Values. One of the nominees is selected to look after Driffy the school
mascot for the week.
Gold Star Book: Children from each class are entered in the Gold Star Book for their achievements during the week. The entries are shared and celebrated with the whole school in Friday Celebration Worship
Individual Award Cards: Each child is given an individual award card on which they collect stickers for perseverance, effort, good behaviour etc. These progress from Bronze through to Platinum. When a card is completed the child is awarded a certificate in Celebration Worship
Good Choice Marbles: These are given out to any child demonstrating good choices in the classroom. When the jar is full, the whole class gets a small treat.
Lunchtime Golden Tickets Children are awarded Golden Tickets at lunchtime for demonstrating good manners. These go into a classroom 'Golden Box' which is brought into Celebration Worship each Friday. One ticket is pulled out of each box to choose a child from each class to sit on the Golden table for lunch with Mrs Thackray the Headteacher.
Lining Up Awards: Every morning and after every play time, the class lining up the smartest is given a 'lining up ticket'. These are counted each week in Celebration Worship and the class with the most tickets at the end of every half term wins a 'lining up party'.
Attendance Awards: We take good attendance very seriously and have 2 types of attendance awards; individual and class awards. Any child with 100% attendance for a term receives a free swim voucher. The class with the best attendance over a half term wins an 'Attendance Party'. Any class with 100% attendance for a week receives a certificate to stick on their door.
Sports Team Points: all of the children in KS1 represent one of 5 sporting teams, names after planets of the solar system. Children earn points both in PE lessons and for joining in games at lunchtimes and break times. Each child in the winning team each term gets a 'I let my light shine PE certificate'.
