Puffins Class - TRIP

2 April 2019 (by schoollogin)

Maritime and Street Life Museum

Puffins have had a wonderful day at the museums today. We started by walking to the street life museum -(in the rain unfortunately) - when we got there, we had a quiz in which we had to find the answers around the museum.

The children were so fascinated by how old everything was and how different it was to what we have now! They enjoyed being able to go inside the old carriages and they definitely enjoyed going on the carriage ride.

After lunch we then walked back to the Maritime museum in which we had some free time to walk around - the children particularly enjoyed seeing the whale bones and hearing the noise the whales make.

Mrs Pickwick then joined us to tell us her tale of her husband out at sea hunting for whales. The children were so intrigued and wanted to know more. She showed us what things were made out of whale bones (things such as corsets, parasols etc), what whales eat and then read us a story about the ship called Diana where we learnt about life on the ship when out whaling.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the children learnt a lot!
