Kingfisher Class September 2018 Holiday project18 July 2018 (by schoollogin) |
After the summer holidays, all Year Two children will take part in a mini project for two weeks. To kick start the project we have put together a list of suggested activities for you to complete together, over the holidays.
You should have already received a copy of this but just in case you haven't, here is a reminder!
- Try to spot a Kingfisher and take a photograph. Kingfishers have been sighted at Tophill Low nature reserve (Tophill Low, Driffield YO25 9RH).
- Try to borrow a book about Kingfishers from the library.
- Find 3 facts that interest you the most about a Kingfisher and make a poster, a booklet or prepare to talk about them in school. A good place to look for facts is the RSPB website.
- Kingfishers fly in a straight line, at a fast pace. Can you make something that flies like a Kingfisher (perhaps a paper aeroplane that flies like this?).
- Look at some images of Kingfisher nest burrows; can you make something that looks like one (perhaps in the sand on the beach or in a space in the garden that you are allowed to dig in ) then take a photo?
- Create some Kingfisher artwork. Any creative pieces would be fantastic!
