Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

The Hedgehog class enjoyed lots of practical science activities inside and outside the farm centre. We started with looking for things that were natural and unnatural. Lots of excitement was had as the children found many objects that did not belong in the natural world. Recycling was discussed and the children have linked this idea to their recycling back at school. The children created huge bubble mountains and experimented with outdoor bubble design using string and sticks! A fizzy experiment encouraged scientific language and links to their own understanding using sultanas in lemonade. They discovered bubbles helped the sultana to float. One group quickly said that the bubbles were like arm bands at their swimming lessons!
